Never heard of the band bôa? You're in good company then, as most of the general public hasn't either. Most anime fans have watched the opening to Serial Experiments Lain though and fallen under the spell of the hypnotic "Duvet." Surprise guys, that's Jasmine Rodgers and the boys of bôa lamenting about that guy who just doesn't 'seem to understand.'

bôa is an English band with both a Japanese and North American recording contract; their North American debut releases early next year. Jasmine Rodgers, the lead singer, has an incredible, powerful voice, not to mention her song writing skills are extremely talented. Every track on Race of a Thousand Camels is penned by her, with the sole exception of One Day, which was written and performed by her brother Steve.

Fool details the pains of growing up Asian in a western culture. Twilight tells the story of a doomed love triangle. Duvet, of course, is an instant classic. Deeply is a plea for a lover to be honest. One Day is the declaration of a love just recently realized.

The rest of the songs are as good as the ones featured here. bôa is a must have. They are such an incredibly talented band. With a North American recording contract with Pioneer and an upcoming album in the states, hopefully the band will gain the fame and notoriety they deserve. However, if you can't wait three more months, the Japanese version of bôa: The Race of a Thousand Camels can be ordered from Anime Nation. This CD is a must have and has earned its place as one of my favorite CDs, if not one of my favorite bands.
