Last week, The Right Stuf International unveiled their initial plans for the DVD release of The Irresponsible Captain Tylor TV series. To gauge the interest in a DVD birth of the series, a preorder campaign was initiated, a target of 750 preorders being required for the production of the DVD set to get underway. For a high caliber series like Tylor TV, despite being somewhat dated, such a low target seems almost a sure thing, and with 443 preorders, the target is well on its way to being attained.

Recently, a newsletter was sent out containing updated information on the status of their plans for the series. While their initial target may have seemed rather low, Right Stuf is evidently now convinced that there's a definitely a market for the Tylor TV series, early research on demand being quite high, and have decided on the release format of choice. The DVD box set will contain all 26 episodes of the series across four dual layered DVD-9s for $129.95, and while the extras for the set are still undecided, the first 750 preorders will receive an "I made the Tylor DVDs Happen" T-shirt. Other special perks for the first 750 preorders are also in the planning stages, cels from the series being a possibility.

The four Tylor DVDs will also be released individually for $34.95 a piece, each disc containing 6 to 7 episodes. Right Stuf is shooting for a Christmas release, but they need to fill those first 750 preorders before production can begin, so head over to the Tylor on DVD portion of the official series site and show your support! The original newsletter on the matter can be read here.
