Toei's Melancholy Afternoon of Streaming Fanime Announcements

Anime Expo announced that the Japanese cast of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yƻtsu) will attend the convention as Guests of Honor. Aya Hirano, Yuko Goto, and Minori Chihara will appear at the event in panels and autograph sessions through the event. In addition to their panel appearances, the Hirano, Goto, and Chihara will perform a live concert on Saturday, June 30 at 4:30PM. The concert will be free for Anime Expo attendees, and will be held at the Long Beach Arena.

Toei Animation announced plans to develop three educational Galaxy Express 999 anime films. The three films will debut in IMAX theatres across Japan. The first film, titled Galaxy Express 999 ~ Timeline of the Starry Sky: The Sun and the Extinction of the Dinosaurs is scheduled to premiere on July 14. Two other films titled Outer Space and the Horse Head Nebula, and The Expanse of Time Space: The Starry Sky is a Time Machine respectively will follow on unspecified dates.

Kodansha's Afternoon magazine revealed the production of a new You're Under Arrest! television series. Atsuko Nakajima, who served as character designer for all previous anime incarnations of You're Under Arrest!, is providing character designs for the new title.

Reeltime, an online streaming movie distributor, recently entered an agreement to distribute anime titles owned by Enoki Films' American branch. The titles offered will include Cosmo Warrior Zero, His & Her Circumstances, and Revolutionary Girl Utena.

At this weekend's FanimeCon, Bandai announced plans to release CLAMP School Detectives on DVD. Currently, no release date or format details have been revealed.

At FanimeCon, Bandai Visual announced its acquisition of Gunbuster vs. Diebuster. Currently, no release details have been announced.
