Based on the live action film, A Chinese Ghost Story: The Tsui Hark Animation will debut in theaters this spring. The anime, which retains it's Cantonese language and uses English subtitles, closely follows the original; the bumbling scholar/tax collector Ning unknowingly falls in love with a beautiful female ghost. However, it seems like everyone (including ghosts, exorcists, and his own beloved) is out to get Ning.

The filmmaker, Tsui Hark, is internationally renowned as one of Hong Kong's most brilliant cinematographers. He has also worked as a producer an actor, and a editor. Among the many movies he has worked on are The Blade, Shanghai Blues, A Better Tomorrow (excellent movie), Peking Opera Blues, and Once Upon A Time in China and America. He made his U.S. directing debut in 1996 with Double Team, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodman.
