TOKYOPOP announced that the company will reorganize. The reorganization, effective immediately, will split TOKYOPOP into two separate entities: TOKYOPOP Media LLC and TOKYOPOP Inc.

TOKYOPOP Inc. will represent the company's current book publishing operation. The company will be headed by John Parker and associate publisher Marco Pavia.

TOKYOPOP Media will be in charge of the less tangible side of TOKYOPOP. Digital distribution and the optioning of film rights will be the primary focus of the limited liability company. Stu Levy, TOKYOPOP's current CEO, will fill the role of CEO and Chief Creative Officer of both companies, which will be collectively referred to as TOKYOPOP Group.

The restructuring will eliminate 39 jobs from TOKYOPOP group. Also, due to current market conditions, TOKYOPOP will decrease its publishing output by roughly half, which, as AnimeNation tallies, would reduce the company's output from about 470 volumes a year to roughly 225 volumes a year.
