AnimeOnDVD reports that Toei Animation will resume its American anime distribution efforts. Toei has started Toei OnDemand, an online branch that offers downloadable episodes of Toei Animation titles via IGN's Direct2Drive. Currently, Toei OnDemand offers the first fifteen episodes of Fist of the North Star and the first fifteen episodes of Slam Dunk in English subtitled format. Each episode costs $1.99 to download.

Toei Animation originally made an attempt to enter the American DVD market in 2005. The endeavor yielded poor sales of the properties, which led to Toei's withdrawal from the US anime market.
