Author Saeko Himuro Passes Away

Saeko Himuro, author of Umi ga Kikoeru, passed away. Himuro, who was battling lung cancer, died at 9:00AM Tokyo local time on Friday, June 6. Himuro was 51 years old when she died.

Umi ga Kikoeru (I can Hear the Ocean) was adapted into a made-for-TV movie in 1993 by Studio Ghibli. The film was a particular favorite of Anime Dream's editor-in-chief, Angelo.
