Taipei-based animation studio SMEC Media and Entertainment has acquired the rights to produce an animated show adapted from Wang Du-Lu's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon book series.

The series was made popular world wide by Ang Lee's recent movie of the same name. SMEC has the rights to make animated movie and home video.

Right now, they are looking around Hollywood for a partner into his venture. It seems likely that Columbia TriStarTV will pick it up since they are owned by Sony who released the recent film.
