Anime News Network reports that Production I.G. will launch a new anime series at Otakon. The new title will revolve around characters based on "The Kano Sisters", Kyoko and Miko Kano, Production I.G., who is partnering with Fuji TV to develop the title, plans to use Otakon as a means to launch the event and spur interest in international sales and marketing for the show.

Susumu Matsushita (Kiba, Monkey Magic) will serve as character designers for the as-of-yet-unnamed program.

The Kano Sisters are a modelling duo that have risen into media celebrity status. Mika Kano is a former Miss Nippon Grand Prize winner, who recently released a vocal album. Kyoko Kano is the author of several books regarding beauty, exercise, and love advice among other topics. The Kano Sisters will attend Otakon 2008 as Special Guests.
