AnimeNation reports that Sony Pictures acquired the rights to Mamoru Oshii's (Ghost in the Shell, Urusei Yatsura) adaptation of The Sky Crawlers. The acquisition grants distribution rights to Sony that cover North America, New Zealand, and Australia. Currently, no release details have been revealed.

The Sky Crawlers originally hit Japanese theaters on August 2, 2008.
