According to AnimeNation, Warner Bros. and Appian Way acquired the rights to produce a live-action film based on Madhouse's Ninja Scroll (Jubei Ninpucho). Alex Tse(The Watchmen) will write the film's screenplay, while Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Mike Ireland will serve as co-producers. Originally, live-action rights to Ninja Scroll were acquired by Threshold Entertainment in 2002. However, nothing came of the license.

This is the second anime property that Appian Way and Warner Bros. have acquired live-action rights to, as they also snagged the rights to a live-action adaptation of Akira in February.

Appian Way is Leonardo DeCaprio's film production company. The company previously worked on The Aviator and The 11th Hour, among other features.
