Anime News Network reports that FUNimation recently restructured to adapt to the current economic climate. The company reduced staff in several departments in order to to reduce costs and to streamline the company's operations. According to Anime News Network, most of FUNimation's staff reductions were in the company's support areas, which will not affect the distribution or acquisition of titles.

The recent round of layoffs is the first major staff cut since 2007, when FUNimation cut roughly 10% of its staff.
