Anime News Network reports that Bandai Entertainment is restructuring due to the economic downturn. The restructuring will include layoffs from the company's 19-person staff, though those that are laid off will be kept as temporary contractors until their current projects are finished. The layoffs are expected to affect production, as well as other departments.

Ken Iyadomi stated that Bandai will continue to acquire and release strong titles, though fewer titles overall will be acquired in the future. Iyadomi cites the downturn in the DVD market as the primary cause of Bandai's need to restructure.

In the past 18 months, FUNimation, ADV Films, and TOKYOPOP have also laid off employees.
