Production I.G Finishes New Kill Bill Anime Sequence
Director Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction) recently told The Quentin Tarantino Archives that Production I.G finished production of a seven-minute animated sequence he had written for an expanded version of Kill Bill.
According to Tarantino, he chose to add this sequence to the new edition of Kill Bill because his crew "wouldn't even have to shoot! So we got together with Production I.G and did it, and it's really cool." The new sequence appears in Kill Bill Chapter 3: The Origin of O-Ren, the animated chapter that Production I.G animated for the film's initial theatrical release in 2003.
Back at Comic-Con International 2006, Tarantino said that he wanted to make an animated origin film about the titular Bill character and his mentors, in addition to an anime prequel about the film's protagonist, The Bride. Uma Thurman, however, told the MTV Movies blog last April that Tarantino instead wrote an anime sequence to serve as an intermission between the two halves of the original film in the planned re-release. She also added that the new sequence has nothing to do with her or the character of The Bride.
