IMAGI (The animation company behind 2007's CGI TMNT film) announced that they've temporarily halted production on their CGI adaptation of Astro Boy. IMAGI President Erin Corbett confirmed plans to resume production next week.

Financial concerns have dogged the film, but after a $20 million fallout, replacement financing has been promised. The funds are slated to arrive on February 3rd.

While IMAGI's development and pre-production work are handled by their Los Angeles branch, much of the computer animation production is performed at the company's Hong Kong headquarters. Because of this, employees at IMAGI'S Hong Kong facility will take the week off for Chinese New Year.

Work continues as normal at IMAGI's U.S. branch this week. The film is reported to be 50% complete and slated for an October 23rd opening.
