Anime Expo announced that Morning Musume will perform at this year's event. Currently, no further details have been announced.

Morning Musume was originally formed by music producer Tsunku in 1997. The group was comprised of five runners-up from auditions for Sharam Q. The group has since released the most chart-topping hit singles of any Japanese female group. Currently, the group contains nine members:

• Ai Takahashi
• Risa Niigaki
• Eri Kamei
• Sayumi Michishige
• Reina Tanaka
• Koharu Kusumi
• Aika Mitsui
• JunJun
• LinLin

None of the original members remain, as they either retired or forged solo careers.

Anime Expo 2009 will be held from July 2-5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
