Katsucon 2009: FUNimation Announces Five Titles

At their Katsucon panel, FUNimation announced that the company acquired the rights to five new titles. At their Katsucon panel, FUNimation reps confirmed that the following will join the company's lineup:

  • Bamboo Blade
  • Blassreiter
  • Dragonaut - The Resonance
  • The Tower of Druaga: the Sword of Uruk
  • The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk

Bamboo Blade will be released across two sets, with the first volume hitting in late 2009. Dragonaut will begin shipping in late 2009, though the release format was not mentioned. Blassreiter will be released across two 13-episode sets beginning in late 2009.

The Tower of Druaga: the Sword of Uruk is the continuation of Aegis of Uruk, and is currently still airing in Japan. FUNimation plans to release both Druaga titles across two boxed sets beginning in late 2009.

Gonzo Digimation became the first company to release an anime television to international audiences concurrently with the Japanese market when they released Blassreiter and Tower of Druaga on international streaming websites within hours of the Japanese airing.
