TV Tokyo President Masayuki Shimada announced that TV Tokyo will establish an Anime Department in April. The department will oversee the company's anime business, with an emphasis on international sales. The new department will consolidate TV Tokyo's current anime units into three departments that will emphasize on operations, business matters, and production. TV Tokyo hopes to increase its revenues from outside sources to 20% (up from the current 15%), with a long-term goal of increasing the total to 30%.

TV Tokyo currently handles the licensing of several popular titles, including Neon Genesis Evangelion and Naruto.
