FUNimation announced that they will stream the original Captain Harlock television series via their website. Currently, the entire series is available for viewing online. FUNimation does not hold the DVD rights to the series; only the digital video rights.

Captain Harlock is a space opera set in the year 2977. In the future, mankind is a stagnant species that relies on machines to handle all work. However, when a mysterious invading force threatens Earth, legendary space pirate Captain Harlock and the crew of the Arcadia are all that stand against total annihilation.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock is based on a manga series by Leiji Matsumoto. The series originally aired on Japanese television in 1978.
