Sony Pictures aquired all North American rights to SAJ's live-action film adaptation of Blood: The Last Vampire. The film's screenplay was penned by Hong Kong's Ronny Yu, while Chris Nahon directed.

The film will hit Japanese theaters on May 29 under the title Last Blood on May 29. The film is scheduled to open in the United Kingdom on June 12, and France on June 17. Samuel Goldwyn Films will release the film in American theaters this summer, though no specific date was announced.

Last Blood is based on the anime film by Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Mobile Police Patlabor). Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit) penned the screenplay, and Hiroyuki Kitakubo (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Roujin Z) directed the original film.
