In an interview conducted over the phone with Hironobu Sakaguchi on Tuesday, the director was asked about the new Final Fantasy anime series, Final Fantasy Unlimited. He described the show as taking place in a parallel world, which "leans towards game creation." When asked to clarify, Mr. Sakaguchi indicated that a new game series was definitely in the development stage, which would be based on the new anime series. Akitoshi Kawazu, who directed the SaGa series and developed the initial concept for Final Fantasy Unlimited, would serve as the director. The game is still very early; no console system has been decided on and it was not sure whether the game would be called Final Fantasy Unlimited or face a name change.
