Weekly Shonen Jump announced that the tenth One Piece theatrical film will be closely overseen by series creator Eiichiro Oda. Oda wrote the film's original story. He also submitted roughly 120 design drawings for his vision of the film, with more in the works.

The new One Piece film, titled One Piece: Strong World will hit Japanese theaters on December 12. The film will be directed by Munehisa Sakai, one of the directors of the One Piece anime series.

Manga creators rarely participate to a great extent with anime based on their works. Oda stated that he wants this year's film to be noticeably different from the previous nine.
