Jun Planning Halts Operations
Japanese character goods maker Jun Planning suspended its operations on April 30, and is preparing to file for bankruptcy. The company was 3.2 billion yen ($33.1264 million US) in debt as of April 30.
Jun Planning was established in 1983 to distribute plush toys and figures of animals and anime characters. Its most popular recent offerings include character items based on Black Lagoon, Death Note, and Shakugan no Shana.
Jun Planning earned 3.6 billion yen ($37.2672 US) in sales during the 2007 fiscal year. However, its sales dropped as consumer spending slowed. Jun Planning's American arm ceased operations on the same day as its parent company.
