Anime Expo announced that anime director Seiji Mizushima will attend the convention as a Guest of Honor. Mizushima worked on a number of high-profile titles, including Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Fullmetal Alchemist. He also directed the ninth episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion, which featured the infamous synchronized dance attack segment.

Mizushima is currently working on an untitled new project with Gainax. He previously attended Anime Expo 2006 to present the English debut of Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa.
