Official Statement Issued By Viz
Viz Media released an official statement confirming that the July issue of Shojo Beat will indeed be the last edition of the magazine. Subscribers will receive a free issue of Shonen Jump, as well as information regarding their options for subscription changes or refunds.
All titles previously serialized in Shojo Beat will remain under Viz's Shojo Beat imprint for combined volumes.
Alini Magazine Services revealed that Viz's Shojo Beat will cease publication with the July 2009 issue. Viz stopped accepting new subscriptions for the magazine several weeks ago. After July, Shojo Beat subscribtions will be converted to Shonen Jump, which will serve as a replacement.
Shojo Beat began publication with the July 2005 issue. The magazine was a sister publication to Shonen Jump, and featured manga titles aimed primarily at female readers in the 13-19 age group. In addition to manga chapters, the publication contained articles on Japanese fashion, beauty, and cosplay among other topics.
Alini Magazine Services is a distributor for Viz Media. The company handles both Shonen Jump and Shojo Beat magazines.
