Manga creator Yoshitoshi ABe revealed that he is working on a new anime series. ABe will enlist a number of staff members that previously worked on Serial Experiments Lain to produce the project, titled Desperant.

ABe announced Desperant last month at Sakura-Con 2009. Currently, little is known about the series except for its setting: Taisho-era Japan. ABe will reveal more details on the series when it is officially unveiled in Japan later this month.

ABe was the creator of a number of popular anime titles, including Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei, and NieA_7.
