Gainax co-founder Hiroyuki Yamaga announced that Gainax is working on two new animation projects. The first project is a special based on Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. The second project is an untitled series based on free-diving.

Yamaga attended FanimeCon with several members of the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann staff. The team recently finished the second theatrical film adaptation of Gurren Lagann, which opened in Japan last month.

Yamaga directed the original Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi TV series, which aired in 2002. Currently, ADV Films holds the rights to Abenobashi, and distributes it on DVD.
