TYO To Merge Yumeta, Hal Film Maker

Production company TYO announced that they will merge their animation studio subsidiaries. On July 1, Yumeta Commpany and Hal Film Maker will merge, to form TYO Animations. The new company will have a 1:1 merger ratio, as well as 20 million yen ($206,440 US) in capital. Satoshi Yamaguchi and Katsunori Haruta will be representative directors for the new company.

Through the merger, TYO hopes to reduce or eliminate costs involved in anime production. TYO will own 83.3% of the new company, while Yamaguchi will hold the remaining 16.7%.

Last year, Yumeta Company earned 440 million yen ($4.54168 million US) in revenues, while Hal Film Maker brought in 1.02 billion yen ($10.52844 million US) in total revenue. However, Yumeta showed a profit of 43 million yen ($443 846 US), and Hal Film Maker recorded a loss of 280 million yen ($2.89016 million US).

Satoshi Yamaguchi and Katsunori Haruta are the representative directors of Yumeta Company and Hal Film Maker, respectively.

Yumeta Company was formed in 1986 by Yamaguchi. The company currently has 18 employees. Yumeta is responsible for a number of fan-favorite works, including Animation Runner Kuromi, Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time, and Angelique.

Hal Film Maker was formed in 1993, and has six employees. Hal Film Maker produced a number of works, including Pretear, Princess Tutu, and Saber Marionette J.

Currently, TYO owns 80% of Yumeta Company and 100% of Hal Film Maker.
