Marvel Comics announced that mangaka Junko Mizuno (Cinderella, Pure Trance, Princess Mermaid) joined the independent talent lineup contributing to Strange Tales Max, a three-issue anthology set to launch in September.

Strange Tales Max was created to give alternative comic creators like Mizuno, Paul Pope, Peter Bagge, Molly Crabapple, and John Leavitt the opportunity to tell their own stories with Marvel's stable of characters.

Marvel writer/talent liaison C.B. Cebulski posted two Spider-Man drawings by Mizuno a year ago, stating then that Mizuno was working on a Marvel project that "hasn't been officially announced just yet."
