Mamoru Oshii and Mizuho Nishikubo's Miyamoto Musashi: Soken ni Haseru Yume (Musashi Miyamoto: The Dream of the Last Samurai) will play as an official selection at both the 13th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival and the 62nd Locarno International Film Festival this summer.

Soken ni Haseru Yume was written by Oshii and directed by Mizuho Nishikubo. Production I.G. animated the feature. The film is an animated documentary that portrays both the facts and the myths that revolve around Musashi Miyamoto.

Musashi Miyamoto is a legendary swordsman that established the Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu style of swordfighting, which requires the use of two swords. Miyamoto also wrote The Book of Five Rings, which is revered on the level of Sun Tzu's The Art of War due to its insight on strategy and tactics.

The Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival will be held from July 16 to 26 in South Korea. The Locarno Film Festival will run from August 5 to 15 in Switzerland. The film will officially open in Japan this summer.
