Media Blasters CEO John Sirabella revealed that the company's Anime Works label acquired ther rights to Blade of the Immortal. Media Blasters plans to dub the series in English, and is currently deliberating on which studio to use.

Blade of the Immortal is based on the manga by Hiroaki Samura of the same title. Koichi Mashimo (Dirty Pair: Project Eden, Noir) directed the title, which was animated by Bee Train. Scripts were overseen by Hiroyuki Kawasaki (Samurai Pizza Cats, The Irresponsible Captain Tylor), while character designs were handled by Yoshimitsu Yamashita (Blood+, Madlax).

Dark Horse currently distributes the Blade of the Immortal manga and novels.
