Otakon announced that director Yutaka Yamamoto will attend the event as a Guest of Honor. Yamamoto was born in Osaka in 1974. He graduated from Kyoto University's Literature Department, and began working at Kyoto Animation. After his work at Kyoto Animation, Yamamoto started the studio Ordet, which produced Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens, Shakugan no Shana Second, and Sketchbook ~full color'S.

Yamamoto directed several popular anime titles, including Kanon, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Lucky Star.
