The official website for Kodansha's Kiss Magazine announced that the next issue of the magazine will not contain the next installment of Nodame Cantobile. The announcement states that the manga's creator, Tomoko Ninomiya, was rushed to the hospital after she began suffering from abdominal pain and a high fever. She was diagnosed with acute appendicitis, and will be unable to continue work until she is treated.

Del Rey currently holds the domestic rights to the Nodame Cantobile manga.
