Otakon announced that VAMPS will attend the event as Guests of Honor. The group will perform a special concert in Baltimore on Thursday, July 16 to coincide with the convention. Passes will be handed out at the concert that will grant priority access to the group's panel and autograph session.

VAMPS will perform at Baltimore's Sonar. The band's panel and autograph session will be held on the afternoon of Friday, July 17 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Originally, the group announced that they would not be able to make it to Otakon due to schedule conflicts. However, due to the response from the fans, the group changed their plans.

VAMPS was founded by L'Arc~en~Ciel guitarist Hyde and Oblivion Dust songwriter K.A.Z. (Kazuhito Iwaike). K.A.Z. and Hyde collaborated on Hyde's solo work since 2003. They debuted as VAMPS on July 2, 2008 with the single Love Addict. VAMPS released their second single, I Gotta Kick Start Now on March 13, and their debut album on June 10.
