Otakon 09: FUNimation Snags Eden, Casshern, and Dragon Ball Remasters

At their Otakon panel, FUNimation announced that they acquired the domestic rights to Casshern Sins and Eden of the East. Both titles will be released on DVD in 2010.

In addition to Casshern and Eden of the East, FUNimation revealed that they snagged the Dragon Ball Z Dragon Box. The Dragon Box is the Japanese remaster of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. They will release the series across several boxed sets, with the first hitting stores this fall. The first set will include a hardcover 80-page booklet, and will cover the first 42 episodes of the series.

Eden of the East was produced by Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor), and directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Blood: The Last Vampire, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). The series aired on on Fuji TV from April 9 to June 18, 2009, and spanned 11 episodes.

Casshern Sins was produced by Madhouse (Ninja Scroll, Hellsing), and directed by Shigeyasu Yamauchi (Boys Over Flowers, Blood+). The series ran from October 1, 2008 to March 15, 2009 on Chiba TV and spanned 24 episodes.
