The latest issue of Enterbrain's Monthly Comic Beam magazine announced that Masatoshi Usune will resume work on Desert Punk (Sunabozu). The manga will begin running in the magazine's next issue, which will hit Japanese retailers on September 12.

The Desert Punk manga will resume after a hiatus that spanned four years and two months, following a saga that focused on Kosuna, the female follower of the original Desert Punk that ran from 2004 to 2005.

The series received an anime adaptation by Gonzo that ran from October 4, 2004 to March 30, 2005 and spanned 24 episodes. The series was directed by Takayuki Inagaki (Indian Summer, Rosario + Vampire). FUNimation acquired the North American rights to the series, and currently distributes it digitally and on DVD.
