Kodansha to Let TOKYOPOP Licenses Expire
Kasia Piekarz, TOKYOPOP's Marketing Manager, revealed that Kondansha will not renew its licenses with TOKYOPOP. Titles in currently in progress will not be completed by the company, and they will not be allowed to reprint already-published volumes. Kodansha did not reveal why they decided to terminate their relationship.
TOKYOPOP published a number of Kodansha titles, including Chobits, Love Hina, Initial D, and GetBackers. Earlier this year, Kodansha underwent a similar process with TOKYOPOP's German branch.
