Authorities identified the body discovered on Arafune mountain as that of Yoshito Usui, creator of Crayon Shin-chan through dental records as well as other means. Usui's body was discovered 131 yards beneath the peak's Tomoiwa cliff. A male climber reported the body between 10:15 and 10:25 Saturday morning. Usui's backpack, which contained his mobile phone, wallet, and clothes, was discovered 55 yards away from the remains. The body was airlifted from the site on Sunday afternoon by a Gunma Prefecture police helicopter. Shimonita police investigated the body, and concluded that Usui succumbed to collapsed lungs and other injuries across his body on September 11.

Usui went to the Gunma Prefecture to hike for a day, according to his family. He expressed a particular interest in scaling Arafune Mountain, which has a peak of 4,665 feet and rests at the border of the Nagano and Gunma Prefectures. His cell phone was last detected around the town of Karuizawa, which is roughly 60 miles northwest of Kasukabe.

We at Anime Dream extend our deepest condolences to Usui-san's family and friends.
