The latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump announced that Eichiro Oda's One Piece Episode 0 manga will be animated. The rubber pirate prequel manga will be published in next week's issue of Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan. The first 1.5 million attendees of the December theatrical release of the new One Piece: Strong World movie will receive the Episode 0 manga volume. Episode 0 will depict the One Piece world 20 years prior to the Straw Hat Pirates' voyage, particularly focusing on the conflict between the Pirate King Gold Roger and legendary pirate Gold Lion Shiki.

The anime adaptation of Episode 0 will be released on 3,000 limited edition DVDs that will be given away through a collaboration with House Foods.

Viz Media recently released the 22nd volume of the original manga in North America, and will begin running the latest chapters from Japan in the English Shonen Jump magazine this fall. FUNimation recently released the eighth movie, One Piece: The Desert Princess and The Pirates: Adventure in Alabasta in North America.
