Anime News Network reports that Production I.G.'s Musashi: The Dream of the Last Samurai will make its American debut at the 4th San Francisco International Animation Festival. The film, which was directed by Mizuho Nishikubo (Video Girl Ai, Rose of Versailles), is based on a script by prominent anime director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers, Patlabor: Mobile Police).

Musashi is an animated documentary of swordfighter Musashi Miyamoto. Miyamoto is renowned for his penning of The Book of Five Rings, which is often compared to Sun Tzu's The Art of War for its insight on military strategy. In addition to his writings, Miyamoto created the Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu two-sword fighting style.

The San Francisco International Animation Festival will be held on Saturday, November 14.
