Numerous manga titles received nominations for awards at Angouleme, France's 2010 Festival International de la Bande Dessinée comic festival. Three titles will compete under the Official Selection category:

• Ikigami: The Ultimate Limit Volume 1 by Motoro Mase
• Mada, Ikiteru by Hiroshi Motomiya
• Legend of Dokudamisou Densetsu by Tatashi Fukutani

These three titles join fifty-five other graphic novels from across the globe. The titles are being considered for the grand prize: six "Angouleme Essentials" designations and naming as best new comic.

Two manga titles are amongst the nine competing for the Heritage Award, given to reissues of older works: Cyborg 009 (Shotaro Ishinomori) and Ore wa Sarutobi da (Osamu Tezuka).

Manga make up three of the twenty volumes competing for the Youth Selection (comics aimed at an audience 7-12 years of age). Tht titles being considered include:

• Mighty Atom Anthology, Volume 2 by Osamu Tezuka
• Fairy Tale, Volume 9 by Hiro Mashima
• Gabai: Saga no Gabai-baa-chan by Youshichi Shimada and Saburou Ishikawa

The event, which opens on January 28, will be the festival's 37th year.
