FUNimation Acquires Hetalia, Sacred Blacksmith

FUNimation announced that they acquired the domestic rights to two new anime series. Hetalia - Axis Powers and The Sacred Blacksmith will join FUNimation's video lineup starting this fall.

Hetalia - Axis Powers is a 52-episode comedy series based on the manga by Hidekaz Himaruya. The series was directed by Bob Shirohata (Gravitation, Diamond Daydreams) and animated by Studio Deen (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Maison Ikkoku).

The Sacred Blacksmith is a 12-episode fantasy title based on Isao Miura's manga of the same title. The series was directed by Masamitsu Hidaka (Pokemon, I Dream of Mimi), and animated by Manglobe (Samurai Champloo, Ergo Proxy).

Hetalia will be released across two DVD sets beginning in late 2010. The Sacred Blacksmith will hit stores in a single DVD set this fall.
