The American Library Association's Young Adult Library Services Association division (YALSA) named its top ten list of the teen-oriented graphic novels published in 2009.

The first volumes of three manga titles — all of which are published by Viz Media — made the list:

• Daisuke Igarashi's Children of the Sea
• Fumi Yoshinaga's Ooku: The Inner Chamber
• Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki's Pluto

Viz Media had the most books honored overall on the list.
