Akitaroh Daichi and Taro Maki will be guests of honor at this year's Big Apple Anime Fest and the east coast Anime Expo in New York City. Both events will be held from August 30th through September 2nd.

Akitaroh Daichi has been involved with such works as Doraemon, Urusei Yatsura, Kodomo no Omocha, Jubei-chan the Ninja Girl, Fairy Princess Raine, Anime Runner Kuromi-chan, Nurse Angel Ririka SOS, and Fruit Baskets. His latest work is Now and Then, Here and There.

Taro Maki, President of GENCO Inc, broke into the industry by producing the now classic Patlabor. He has went on to work on such productions as Tenchi Muyo in Love, Tenchi Muyo: The Movie 2, Super Doll: Rika-chan, and Tree of Palme.

Viz announced that two of their manga titles have been nominated in the same Eisner category. Both Eagle: The Making of an Asian-American President and Uzumaki have been nominated for Best US Edition of Foreign Materials. The winners will be announced August 2nd at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego.
