Bandai Entertainment announced that they acquired the domestic rights to The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. The film will debut in English-subtitled format at the Viz Cinema on May 21. In June, Consolidated Theaters and Artisan Gateway will distribute the film in Hawaii as part of the Spotlight Asia Films program. Premiere dates and venues are currently pending for the Hawaiian run of the film.

While no release date was announced, Bandai revealed that the DVD release of the film will feature an English dub by Bang Zoom! Entertainment. Bang Zoom! produced the dub for the original series, and is currently dubbing the show's second season.
