First Kyoto Animation Award Winners Announced

Yesterday, Kyoto Animation announced the results of their first Kyoto Animation Award program. The program was announced last October, and offered grand prizes of 300,000 yen ($1,075.50) and honorable mention prizes of 100,000 yen ($3,226.50) in categories of scenario, manga, and novel. The most popular winning entries would be given a chance of being animated by Kyoto Animation.

No grand prizes were awarded this time, but the honorable mentions were given as follows:

  • Kuroi Kanojo to Aki-Chi no Boku by Tomoya Kizuka

Over the years, Kyoto Animation produced a number of fan-favorite anime series, including The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star, and K-On!. Haruhi and Lucky Star are both currently available in America through Bandai Entertainment.
