Anime News Network announced the launch of their streaming anime service. The service debuted with FUNimation's release of Blassreiter. All twenty four episodes of the series are available in subtitled format, while the first four episodes are available dubbed. Anime News Network currently has content agreements with The Anime Network, Toei Animation, and Aniplex. Through these agreements, they plan to add over 1,000 episodes to the service over the next few months.

In addition to the service's launch, Anime News Network announced that they licensed the 1977 anime series Nobody's Boy - Remi. The series will premiere on June 13 with five subtitled episodes. Five new episodes will be added to the player every Sunday over the ten following weeks. The series will not be available in Canada due to an existing license.
