Anime Expo 2010: FUNimation Drops The Bomb

FUNimation announced that they acquired the rights to twenty two new anime titles today. The company revealed that they licensed the following shows:

  • Ai Yori Aoshi
  • Armitage III
  • Black Butler 2
  • Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail
  • Darker Than Black Season 2
  • Haibane Renmei
  • Hellsing (TV)
  • Hellsing Ultimate (Volumes 5, 6, and 7)
  • The Legend of the Legendary Heroes
  • Sekirei ~Pure Engagement~
  • Sengoku Basara Two
  • Serial Experiments Lain
  • Shakugan no Shana (Season 2,Movie, and OVA)
  • Shiki
  • Tenchi in Tokyo
  • Tenchi Universe
  • Tenchi Muyo! (OVAs and films)
  • Texhnolyze
  • Toaru Majutsu no Index
  • Toaru Kagaku no Railgun
  • Trigun: Badlands Rumble

Ai Yori Aoshi, Armitage, Haibane Renmei, Hellsing, Lain, Texhnolyze, and Tenchi were all previously released in the west by Geneon Entertainment (formerly Pioneer Entertainment). All of the former Geneon titles will be released in 2011.

In addition to their anime licenses, FUNimation revealed that they acquired the rights to the live-action Moyashimon TV series. Moyashimon, Shiki, Black Butler 2, Sekirei ~Pure Engagement~, The Legend of the Legendary Heroes, and Sengoku Basara Two will be simulcast with their Japanese airings.
