We thought we would finally get around to announcing the winner of our Metropolis contest! For those of you that missed it, Columbia Tristar Home Video offered up a free DVD to one of our fine readers. We asked for a 50 word description of your favorite robot and why. This winning entry came from Thomas in New Jersey:

R2-D2: Nothing beats a classic. He had:

• Classic design - didn't resemble a human too much
  
• Versatility - acted as holster, served drinks, fixed spaceships
  
• Personality through mere beeps - made sarcastic commentary (takes intelligent directing)
  
• Everyone's love - starred in every media type
  
• Merchandise - makes great cookie jar
