Viz Media announced that they acquired the domestic rights to the Detroit Metal City live-action film. No details on the film's release were revealed.

Detroit Metal City is a send-off of the death metal scene based on the manga of the same name by Kiminori Wakasugi. The film was directed by Toshio Li, and stars Kenichi Matsuyama. Rock legends Gene Simmons (KISS) and Marty Friedman (Megadeth) also make cameos in the film.

Viz Media currently distributes the Detroit Metal City manga. The sixth volume is scheduled to hit retailers on September 14.
